Andrew Shimmel – Head Instrutor
I have been sailing at BRYC since the age of 6, and have raced Opti’s, 420’s, Wianno Sr’s, and Lasers. I enjoy sailing, fishing, and working on boats/cars in my free time. I will be a senior at The Ohio State University. I have been incredibly passionate about our program for years, and it has had a profound impact on my life. BRYC has introduced me to some of my closest friends and companions.
Schuyler Lloyd – Instructor
I am Schuyler Lloyd, and I have been sailing at Bass River Yacht Club since I was 6. Before that, I was in a learn to sail program. I have raced Optis, 420s, and Lasers. BRYC has been the highlight of summers for me and my cousins. My grandfather and father also grew up sailing at BRYC. Outside of sailing, I graduated from Pingree School in Hamilton, Massachusetts. I am currently in the Class of 2027 at Tufts University and am on the Women’s Lacrosse Team.
Chloe Catalano – Instructor
I’m Chloe and I’ve been sailing at BRYC for the past 6 years and am currently on the 420 race team. Sailing has introduced me to many friends and has played a big role in my life.
Outside of sailing I’m a junior at Thayer Academy where I play soccer and run track. Sailing and being on the water are my favorite things to do so I always look forward to spending much of my summer at BRYC!
Eliza Barker – Instructor
My name is Eliza and I’ve been sailing at BRYC for over 10 years, and this is my 3rd year of instructing! I am Class of 2027 at Boston College, and I’m originally from Wellesley, MA. My hobbies include sailing, running, being by the beach, and spending time with my friends and family. BRYC has been my favorite place to spend my summers for as long as I can remember, and I love being able to share this passion with others.
Grace Westmoreland – Instructor
I’m Grace and I’ve been sailing at BRYC for eight years including racing Optis and 420s. I love being on the water and always look forward to coming back to the BRYC community every summer! During the rest of the year I live in Raleigh, NC where I’ll be a senior at Cary Academy. Outside of sailing, I love playing soccer, spending time with family and friends, and playing guitar.
Natalie Ahern – Instructor
I have been sailing at the Bass River Yacht Club since the age of 6. Instructing in the summer is always something I look forward to! I love sharing the skill of sailing with others. During the school year, I live in Florida and attend Jupiter High School, where I play tennis for my school.
Phin Smith – Instructor
My name is Phin and I’m 16 years old. I live in Westford, MA during the year and come to the Cape during the summer. I spend most of my summer sailing which I’ve done for the past 8 or so years. This is my first year as an instructor at BRYC and I’m really enjoying it.
Anna Hunter – Instructor
I’ve been sailing at BRYC for eight years and have been instructing learn to sail and beginner opti for three years. I’ve raced optis and now 420’s. I live on Cape Cod year-round and will be attending John Paul II High School as a junior in the fall. Being part of BRYC has been a meaningful experience and I’m always excited to come back every summer to be part of the sailing program too!
Waters Lloyd
I am Waters Lloyd and I started sailing at Bass River Yacht Club when I was 6. I have raced optis, lasers, and 420s. My grandfather and dad also sailed at BRYC. Sailing at BRYC has always been the highlight of my summer and led to so many friendships. I am a junior at Pingree School in Hamilton Massachusetts and play lacrosse and soccer there.
